Line Rider is Addicting!

So if any of you haven't played Line Rider, you're missing out. Well, I guess if you play games you're missing out. If you don't like to play games, you're not. Anyway, the way it works is, you draw a line, press the play button, and some little man on a toboggan rides on the line. Try it here. He can do pretty cool leaps and stuff if you really get good at it. Today's comic is a homage to the game.

It's That Time of Year Again...

Finals are upon us, and with all of the stress, who couldn't use some unwinding? Tea has gotten herself in a bit of a bind. This comic was inspired by someone mentioning that they had to stud for their Yoga final. I guess they were serious...

Have you ever had on of those teachers...

You know the type. They're always trying to impress you with their intelligence, then somehow end up making themselves sound kinda lame. Well, today's JT & Tea comes from one of those teachers’ favorite phrases. They use it almost every class hour that I've been in. Hope you enjoy today's comic!

Post-Thanksgiving Battles

After the big turkey day, there is always the battle to get back on track. Well, that and stay awake. JT has had his share of the turkey and then some in this comic. Myself, I'm just trying to get back into the swing of things after such a long break from school.

Oh, to Be Young Again...

I remember, when I was a child, going out on the roof with my brothers and sister and looking down at the sand pit behind our house. (We lived near a river, so there was tons of sand everywhere.) My sister, who is a few years older than me, turned to one of our youngest brothers and said, "Dare ya to jump off." Of course he disagreed, then she got a big towel and a Burger King crown and put them on him. She marched him to the edge of the roof and said, "You'll be king of the roof if you do." Of course, this didn't make him budge. So my sister, being in her not-so-nice phase, pushed him. He landed and we all stared to see what he would do. After he got up and said it was kinda fun, we all jumped off of the roof and into the sandpit. We did that for hours.

What does this have to do with JT & Tea? Well, I thought to myself, "What would be awesome this time of year?" I remembered that jump and thought again, "What would have made that jump irresistible to me?" The result...

Mmmmmmmm... Food!

I really love to eat! Ask anyone and you'll find out it's true. I love to cook too, but that's beside the point. Today's comic tells just how serious JT is about his eating too. Hope you enjoy today's JT & Tea!

While I Was Gone...

I was busy taking care of school once again. I know, I'm such a slacker. But, while I was out, JT went for his annual checkup. Seems everything is just fine for him.

In Honor of the Halloween Season

I bring to you, one of three Halloween comics for this week. I love this comic. Jose is being his typical self.

A note on Jose: He's based off of my brother from another mother named Jose. I know, not very creative, but he doesn't mind. In fact, Jose has just joined the JT & Tea crew as an editor for www.jtandtea.com

Welcome aboard Jose!

Aliens Are Among Us!!!

I am taking quite a unique class here at Utah State University. It's called Intelligent Life In the Universe. In this class we are talking about where we might find life in our solar system and other places. The other day, we were talking about the improbability of some of our beloved movie aliens' existence and discounted most of them. Suddenly, in my head, I got this funny scene. This comic is the result of that! Enjoy!

Ever have a hard time deciding on what to eat, where to eat, or what to do? It's an ongoing thing between my wife and I. Maybe I should be more decisive?

Read All About It! School Triumphs Over Comics!!!

Yes, I'm sorry to say that that old arch nemesis of all things comic, College, triumphed over the comic strip producing of this cartoonist! In an ideal world, I would set everything aside, think of some funny things, and get straight to work on making them into comic strips.

Unfortunately, this is not an ideal world that we live in, and when it comes to getting good grades and putting food on the table for my two children, that takes priority over the comic making aspect of my life. Don't think that I haven't stressed about it... In fact, I'm worried that I'll lose readership because I wasn't faithful to you, my fans. But I'm certain that this is only a dip in the road on my way to success.

Thank you all for coming and visiting! Stay tuned for fresh JT & Tea coming this Wednesday!

Fall Holiday

I'm sorry to report, but today there will be no new comic strip. Due to the "Fall Holiday" here at Utah State University, The Utah Statesman is not being published. I wish to maintain true to my publisher, so there will not be a new comic posted today.

Sorry for the let-down. I hope that you will keep coming back every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for more fresh JT & Tea!

Sad, But True...

Today's comic is based on something that happened to me when I was a child. Of course, I was only about 5 years old when it happened. Still, it is actually something of a legendary tale that has been told around my family's dinner table for many years; always accompanied by raucous laughter. Boy, did I learn my lesson that day.

Hope you enjoy today's JT & Tea! Keep checking back for more every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!

Well, if you've been reading the posts, due to an editorial slip-up, I am posting this comic today to coincide with its release in The Utah Statesman. I always want to stay true to my editor, so I am not going to get ahead of him. Hope you liked this one!

Friday's Comic Revealed!!!

Well, I got to it sooner than I had expected! They published today's comic as scheduled, but Wednesday's comic will be published Monday, and next Monday's comic will be posted next Wednesday, and so forth until they catch up to the ones that haven't been dated yet.

Whew! That was a mouthful!

Without further adieu, here is your latest installment of JT & Tea! Enjoy!

Due to an Editorial Error...

Today's JT & Tea will not be posted until I find out for sure what comic they are running in the paper. As noted in the previous entry, they accidentally reprinted an old comic. It should be around 2 PM when I am able to get back to my computer and get my comic uploaded to the website.

Until then, sorry for the inconvenience. Please check back this afternoon for more of your favorite strip!

Repost in Print? What?!

Today I rushed out the door after e-mailing my editor a new comic for the paper. When I got to school, I went through my normal routine of grabbing a paper on the way to class and not reading it. After class, I wrote a paper for another one of my classes and then went to my second, and last, class of the day. There, I still did not read my paper until the very end of class. And what did I find?

For those of you who read The Utah Statesman, you already know. But for those of you in Washington, Colorado, Florida, Oregon, New York, and Germany who aren't able to acquire one of these little papers, I'll fill you in.

Today's paper showed a comic that I did for the release date of October 3rd. If you go into the history of this blog, you'll find it. It's the one about Ginger.

So, I would like to apologize to my regular readers, as this will delay the release of my next comic. But please don't forget to tune in! I'll wither repost the correct comic, or I'll dig up some more on the comic strip industry that you might find interesting.

Take care all! And keep coming back for more JT & Tea every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!

Where do I find the time?!!!

I am just barely making deadlines, both for school and for this strip! I don't know where I find the time to draw these strips. My wife knows... it's late at night when she would rather have me in bed so that I can be functional the next morning! HA! I really love to draw this comic, but coming up with new material isn't always the easiest. Sometimes I'll have a whole slough of inspiration for some funny line, other times I'm beating my head against a brick wall.

Well, I hope you enjoy today's JT & Tea!

Do You Realize...

Do you realize how much work goes into a comic strip? My comics take about a day each to think up, sketch, ink in, letter, and finally scan and edit. Mostly because I am a full-time student, a full-time employee, not to mention a full-time dad with two children and a wife who demand (and deserve) my time when I am home with them for lunch and dinner.

But I'm not alone. Lynn Johnston and her crew on For Better of For Worse take about six hours to complete one comic strip! You can check out her process here. In the mean time, enjoy a fresh new JT & Tea!

Friday's Comic On Time!

JT & Tea by Joseph T. Gould

See, what'd I tell ya? I got out to the computer a little earlier than I had anticipated. It's pretty hard getting up this early when you got to bed around 1 AM. This comic was inspired by a night of bowling with my wife and the stories she told meabout her days of bowling as a youth.

Wednesday's Comic (10-3-07) And a little on JT's Character...

JT & Tea by Joseph T. Gould

For those of you who are just finding us, and those of you who have been coming and going, just enjoying the comic, I wanted to give some insight into the character of JT.
JT is a fun-food-loving dude. Besides hanging out with his friends, Tea and Jose, JT's next favorite past-time is eating. This boy loves his food. He likes the normal stuff, but cross-cultural cuisine is really what gets his mouth watering. So, don't be surprised if you see him eating your favorite dish sometime, or a variation thereof.
Hope you've enjoyed this little blurb on JT. Keep coming by for more fresh JT & Tea!

Friday's Comic on Saturday???

I know, I know... It's Saturday and you're just now getting Friday's comic. I apologize sincerely for that, but life happens, and with me that meant school, work and family overrode my plans to update this blog. Hopefully, this will be the only time that happens! Hope you enjoy the new comic!

For those of you Who are wondering...

I've decided not to post a new comic today, as The Utah Statesman has decided to run the comic that I posted last Friday on my blog in today's paper. While I believe it would keep everyone else entertained, I don't think it fair to my publishers to run one step ahead of them. So today I will forgo posting a new comic and instead post one of my old ones from when I was being published by The Clipper (Everett Community College's school paper).

Enjoy!

New Beginnings...

These comics are the first comics that I have ever gotten paid for. I'm excited to see JT & Tea in a bigger newspaper and I'm extremely excited that I have so many friends at my new school who enjoy it already. I'm proud of what this strip has become and I hope to see it one day in a national paper. Wish me luck!

In the mean time, I'll be publishing my new comics every time that one is published in the Utah Statesman. So, subscribe now and you won't miss out on a single comic! Thanks a ton for all of your support! See you in the comics!
